The Cast and Crew of The Temp
Writer/Director, “The Temp”
Brian Kelly most recently did 1,300 shows with Triple Espresso, in cities everywhere from Des Moines, Iowa to Dublin, Ireland. It’s hard to remember much of anything before that, but he’s told that he’s performed with ComedySportz, Mystery Café, Tony & Tina’s Wedding, and We Gotta Bingo and written a couple of jokes for Miss Richfield, 1981. He's also done a number of commercials, at least 4 of which feature him in bed asleep.
"Ms. Swanson"
Carolyn is a Twin Cities-based actress whose work has been seen all over the United States. Recent roles include: Vivien Leigh in Orson's Shadow at Gremlin Theater; Curley's Wife in Of Mice and Men; Shelby in Steel Magnolias; Catherine in Proof at Park Square Theater; Velma in Chicago; and Kari in The Pavilion at The Paul Bunyan Playhouse. Carolyn can also be seen in the recently released short film "Good Morning" and the soon to be released feature film "Midnight". She enjoys acting while waiting for her big break as a waitress.
"Richard"/"The Phantom"
Michael has performed at numerous theatres in the Twin Cities including the Old Log, the Jungle, and the Children’s Theatre. He has a BA from the University of Minnesota, has studied at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, and is a City Pages “Best of the Twin Cities” award winner. He is pleased as punch to be reprising his role as the tragically misunderstood Richard.
"Mr. Rooney"
Over the last 25 years as a Twin Cities performer, Tom has appeared with the Mystery Café, Actors Theatre of Minnesota, the Brave New Workshop as well on downtown street corners as costumed characters. (You may remember him as a “dapper loon” when Gaviidae Common opened.) Reprising his role as Mr. Rooney in The Temp he hit the treadmill & cut back on the Iced Honey Buns. He’s been seen recently in commercials for the Minnesota Lottery, Sun Country Airlines & for Quitplan as the guy who loses his pants at the Metrodome.
"Denise"
Julie has performed with Hey City Theatre, Actors Theatre of MN and Theatre Latte Da. She is a voiceover and on camera actor, having been featured in spots for the MN Triple Crown: Valley Fair, MN State Fair and a local Casino. Her day job is her dream job; director of peace & justice ministries with St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church - The greatest group of radicals she's ever met. With her husband Michael, they have a 15 year old son, Josh.
"Scooter"
After being bashed over the head with a blender on the TV show Angel, Dave fell into a lovely midsummer night’s dream where he moved home to Minnesota and did theatre at places like Park Square (Sherlock Holmes); The Jungle (The Rivals); Hardcover (Around the World in 80 Days); and Nimbus (Accidental Death of an Anarchist). He hasn't woken up yet. Please refrain from pinching Dave. Speaking of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, you can see Dave as Puck at Park Square this fall.
"Trudy"
Emily, a twin cities native, considers herself a bohemian ballerina. After receiving her dance training at Ballet Arts Minnesota, she moved to the east coast to dance with Boston Ballet. 2008 marks her 3rd season with Minneapolis’ James Sewell Ballet, performing contemporary ballet in Minnesota, Iceland, California and New York. When she’s not working for James, Emily makes dances, films, jokes, songs, and any combination of the four, often in collaboration with other artists. She has worked with abstract painter, Patrick Pryor and jazz pianist, Jim O’Neill as part of an improvisational “Music Sketch”. She recently collaborated with dancer Justin Leaf, creating a “mockumentary” style film starring herself as five different characters as part of The Alternative Artist Collective. Emily was featured on the cover of the December 2007 Metro Magazine. She has also studied aerial arts at Xelias in Minneapolis and her dream of running away to join the circus will never die. Jane is very excited to be performing in The Temp. Since graduating from The University of Iowa Jane has worked professionally in theatre here in the Twin Cities and all across the country. She was most recently seen as Brenda in The Pajama Game at Bloomington Civic Theatre and on tour with Troupe America's production of Babes in Toyland as Miss Lilly. When not performing, Jane enjoys spending time petting her kitties, riding her bike around the city, and taking road trips to Medora, ND - if you know anyone who can give me a ride let me know. Many thanks to my Mom for coming to every show I've ever been in, to Lucy for meowing at me every time I sing, and to Ludwig for his capable piano accompaniment- thanks buddy:)
